Everything you need to know about ZEN’s migration - all in one place.
Days Until ZEN Migration to Base
On July 23rd, Horizen will migrate $ZEN from its current chain to Base (Ethereum L2).
After this date, the legacy Horizen mainchain and EON sidechain will be discontinued.
Our priority is making this transition as smooth and secure as possible for all ZEN holders.
Only trust information from the official channels. We never DM
Immediate actions required before 7/23 to ensure your funds are included in the migration:
If your ZEN is on a regular wallet (eg. MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, etc), you do NOT need to do anything
Your ZEN is safe and the migration will be automatic.
Exit all DeFi pools on EON before 7/23
If your ZEN is providing liquidity in any DeFi pools - remove all ZEN from liquidity pools immediately and send ZEN to your regular wallet.
Unwrap your wZEN into native ZEN before 7/23
Only native ZEN will be captured in the snapshot. Wrapped ZEN (wZEN) and tokens (USDC, USDT, WTC, etc.) in DeFi pools will NOT be migrated.
Bridge non-native tokens back to their original chain before 7/23
If you have other tokens (USDC, USDT, WBTC, etc.) on EON, bridge them out to their original chain. Use Archon or Wanchain, depending on how you bridged in. Only native ZEN will migrate to Base.
Remove ZEN from any dapps or smart contracts before 7/23
ZEN locked in smart contracts will NOT migrate. If you have ZEN deposited in dApps or smart contracts, you must remove it and send it to your regular wallet immediately.
Remove ZEN from EON multisig wallets
If your ZEN is in a multisig wallet, remove it to a regular wallet. ZEN in mutisig wallets will not automatically migrate.
Sphere Wallet
Ledger Wallet
Any third-party non-custodial wallet
You do NOT need to do anything until the migration day (7/23)
Your ZEN is safe
Starting 7/23: Use the Claim Portal to claim ZEN
Use the official claim portal to claim an equivalent amount of the new ERC-20 ZEN on Base.
Use your wallet to sign a message for proof of ZEN ownership
The claim process involves using your current wallet to sign a message proving you own your ZEN. Think of it like showing your ID to pick up a registered package.

Check the Exchange Support Status Page
Check to see if your exchange has confirmed the support for the ZEN migration.
If your exchange supports the ZEN migration - you do NOT need to do anything
Your ZEN migration will be automatic - your exchange will handle the migration process.
If your exchange does not support the migration:
Withdraw your ZEN and move it to a supported wallet (eg. Sphere, Ledger).
Don't wait - If you leave ZEN on an unsupported exchange, you may lose access to your tokens permanently.

Will the relaunch impact $ZEN holders and the $ZEN tokenomics?
$ZEN’s fixed 21 million supply will remain unchanged. While the details of an updated tokenomics are still being finalized, key considerations include:
How will this move affect $ZEN liquidity?
Integrating into Base brings $ZEN closer to a highly liquid ecosystem, making it easier for users and developers to access and trade. Base's strong ties to Coinbase improve visibility and increase the likelihood of deeper exchange integrations and institutional support.
Will this shift to Base impact the Grayscale Horizen Trust (HZEN)?
No. Grayscale already uses Coinbase Custody for asset storage, aligning well with Horizen’s move to Base - a Coinbase-backed ecosystem. This strategic shift further strengthens ZEN’s institutional positioning and enhances its visibility within the broader Coinbase and Grayscale networks.
Will Horizen still support EVM and Solidity smart contracts?
Yes! Moving to Base ensures full EVM compatibility, making it easier for existing developers to deploy on Horizen without needing to learn a new framework.
